Tourism spending on the rise in Madison and Dane County
Madison and Dane County saw record tourism spending last year with nearly a 10% rise according to Destination Madison. Tourism spending in Madison and Dane County increased by nearly 10% last year, according to Destination Madison. In 2023, visitors to the area will spend an average of $4.1 million a day in Dane County. The increase is seen as crucial as we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw a 43% decrease in visitor numbers. Destination Madison President and CEO Ellie Westman Chin hopes this growth will continue and is working towards bringing even more people to Madison.

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Madison and Dane County saw record tourism spending last year with nearly a 10% rise according to Destination Madison.
In 2023, visitors to the area spent on average $4.1 million a day in Dane County. Destination Madison says it is an important step as we continue to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“When we started coming out of COVID, and COVID we decreased 43%, and we knew we wanted to get those visitors back in our city to experience all the great things that we get to experience as residents, but we also wanted that economic impact back,” Destination Madison President and CEO Ellie Westman Chin said.
Destination Madison wants that growth to continue and is focused on bringing even more people to Madison.
