Heroes Hangout helps community meet Madison County first responders
Marshall Police Chief Kenny Brown said the events help to facilitate more interaction between first responders and community members. The "Heroes Hangout" event was held by the Marshall Police Department on Oct. 24 at Marshall's Blannahassett Island in Madison County. The event aims to increase visibility and interaction between first responders and community members. The Madison Substance Awareness Coalition hosted a drug takeback event during the event. Marshall Police Chief Kenny Brown plans to offer the event twice a year and possibly add resources like a social worker to the event, which he hopes will help open up communication lines between first and local agencies. The other participating local agencies included Madison County Sheriff's Office, Marshall Fire Department, Walnut Community Fire Department and Mars Hill Police Department.
