‘Forever in our Hearts’: Madison County lays ‘Baby Madison’ to rest 10 years after remains found off I-45

Madison County Judge Clark Osborne proclaimed Oct. 27 will forever be known as Baby Madison Day. The remains of a girl, believed to be 2 to 5 years old, were found in a suitcase off Interstate 45 north of Madisonville, Texas in 2004. The girl was honored at a Celebration of Life 10 years later, with over 100 people attending the service. The cause of death is unknown, but ruled a homicide. No family has ever come forward to identify the girl. The case has been under investigation since 2021 and forensic testing has shown ties to El Salvador and Nuevo Leon, Mexico. After the service, her casket was lowered to her final resting place at Madisonville Cemetery. Her headstone will read "Baby Madison" until she is identified.
