Lincoln Riley Has Run Out of Time at USC
After the Trojans’ debacle against Wisconsin, it’s clear their five-season investment in the head coach is falling far short of their lofty ambitions. USUS football coach Lincoln Riley has been told he is no longer needed after five seasons in charge of one of the sport's most iconic bluebloods, despite a successful rebuilding program under Luke Fickell. Despite a 24–7 win against Wisconsin, the team's performance was seen as a sign of progress in Ficke's rebuilding program after four years of delays and engineering mistakes. The Trojans had a new football facility and a quarterback named Jayden Maiava, who was a legitimate Heisman candidate and was in the top five nationally in yards and touchdown passes. Despite this success, Riley's tenure as head coach of the USC team has been cut short due to poor performance. The team's failure to meet expectations on any of the three key aspects of their game against Wisconsin was blamed for the team’s performance.
