The narcotics, which included both cocaine and fentanyl, were found during the traffic stop. Jose Cruz Esquivel Venegas and Veronica Garza Torres were arrested and taken to the Madison County Jail. A 7-year-old child was also in the vehicle at the time of the stop. VenegAS was charged with two counts of manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance, a first-degree felony given the amount involved, and a third-degree charge of abandoning or endangering a child. Torres was also charged with having two outstanding warrants out of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly tampering with or fabricating evidence.
