Madison County Board urges VAC to shift spending priorities

Madison County Board resolution targets the Veterans Commission's rising salary spending Madison County Board has urged the VAC (VAC) to shift its spending priorities to greater aid to veterans. The resolution argues that too much is spent on salaries and benefits, rather than aid to aid to the veterans. VAC Superintendent Bradley Lavite responded by calling the resolution "unresearched" and a "nothingburger". He also questioned why county officials were attempting to reopen old disputes, referring to lawsuits filed by Lavite and the Vac between 2015 and 2018 that were resolved in 2021. The VAC calls for 80% of the budgeted funds for direct aid to be used, or for the lack of spending to be explained, and for salaries and bonuses to be better justified.
