Madison County family raises awareness about safe organ procurement
Network for Hope is the organ procurement organization, or OPO, in Kentucky. It was decertified in August. A Madison County family is raising awareness about safe organ procurement, nearly three months after Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. decertified the state’s organ procurement organization, Network for Hope, in Kentucky. The family is working to ensure that the next organization puts patients first. Donna Rhorer, the sister of the deceased TJ Hoover, organized a conversation about safe organs procurement and urged Network forHope not to appeal the decertification. The conversation was held after Rhorer was told her brother was brain dead and ready for donation, but that was not the case. Stephanie Humkey lost her brother in 2024 to a wrongful organ donation by Network for Hop.
