Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources have launched two statewide grant programs, the PFAS Community Grants Sampling Program and theWisconsin PFAS Private Well Testing Program, which provide funding to help communities sample private wells and public water supplies for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances contamination. The programs were authorized by 2025 Wisconsin Acts 200 and 201 and are supported by $125 million in funding from the PFas Trust Fund, established in the 2023-25 Biennial State Budget. Through these programs, municipalities can apply for funding to develop their own water sampling programs and private well owners and users not located in a municipality can receive an at-home sampling kit. They may also apply for remediation funding through the Well Compensation Grant Program.
