The team is made up of 15 collegiate softball players from across the nation, most of whom have ties to the Midwest. The league will consist of teams from Madison, WI, and La Crosce, WI. The Steam will also travel to Mankato, MN, and Minot, ND for games away from Copeland park. Teams in the new softball league will be promoted like minor league baseball teams. Additional markets will be announced at a future date.
