MAMARONECK, NY — The benefits of a new sewer construction project will pay off for years to come, but there will be some notable inconveniences over the next couple of months.
Beginning January 9, Green Mountain Pipeline Services, working on behalf of the Village of Mamaroneck, will begin new sewer construction work on Madison Street, between Old White Plains Road and Plaza Avenue. The work will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. During these times, only Madison Street residents and emergency vehicles will be allowed to enter Madison Street. After 5 p.m., Madison Street will be re-opened to thru traffic, but an active 300-ft work zone will require "No Parking" at anytime. The rest of Madison Street will remain normal, with one parking lane and one travel lane.
The construction is expected to last for approximately eight weeks, according to the village. Drivers and residents of the Washingtonville neighborhood can expect traffic, parking restrictions and detours during construction.
The village is encouraging drivers to use Hoyt Avenue or other alternate routes. Driving and parking in this area will be challenging until the project is completed in early March. Police are scheduled be on hand to help keep motorists and workers safe. Officials are reminding commuters to please slow down and drive responsibly.
