Spring events coming to the Madison area this Easter weekend

As spring is in full swing, the greater Madison area can prepare for numerous events coming this Easter weekend. Several events are scheduled for Easter weekend in the greater Madison area, including a free recital series at First Unitarian Society (FUS) and a celebration of the Spring 2024 Overture Galleries. In celebration of Trans Day of Visibility, Giant Jones Brewing Company will host events throughout the weekend, including an art opening and live music by Kat and the Hurricane. The Easter Egg-Stravaganza will include a photo opportunity with the Easter bunny and a non-competitive Easter egg hunt at Hometown USA Community Park in Verona. On Saturday, March 30, A Room of One’s Own will join with a pop-up bookstore for a free event.

Spring events coming to the Madison area this Easter weekend

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - As spring is in full swing, the greater Madison area can prepare for numerous events coming this Easter weekend.

WMTV 15 News sat down with Sarah Warner with Destination Madison to discuss some fun events for people to enjoy this Easter.

Anyone available during their lunch break Friday at 12:15 p.m. can head over to First Unitarian Society (FUS) for its distinguished artist recital series. Since 1971, FUS has offered a noon-hour recital series free to the public. People can listen to musicians perform in the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Landmark Auditorium. The event features Yi-Lan Niu, soprano and Christopher Cramer, classical guitar.

Taking place Friday at 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., people can listen to artists speak as they celebrate the Spring 2024 Overture Galleries. The event will be held at the Rotunda Gallery and Rotunda Stage and is free to the public. People can expect to find vibrant colors and aesthetic experiences as they take at look at the spring galleries. Artists’ will begin to speak about their work at 6 p.m.

In celebration of Trans Day of Visibility, Giant Jones Brewing Company will host events all weekend long. Beginning Friday at 5 p.m., it will kick of the celebration with an art opening and live music by Kat and the Hurricane, a local indie pop/synth-rock trio. The brewing company will feature artwork on its walls, including Rae Senarighi also known as Transpainter.

On Saturday, March 30 at 3 p.m., A Room of One’s Own will join with a pop-up bookstore.

Families and friends can enjoy the Egg-Stravaganza, which will include a photo opportunity with the Easter bunny and a non-competitive Easter egg hunt. It will take place at Hometown USA Community Park in Verona on Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Beyond the hunt and photos, there will be a petting zoo and relay games. The event is free to the public.
