National peace walk comes to the Madison area
MADISON, (WKOW) — A cross-country peace walk stopped in Madison Saturday, bringing together Quakers and other community members to promote peace and encourage conversations about war and conflict. A cross-country peace walk, supported by Quakers across the country, has stopped in Madison, Wisconsin, to promote peace and encourage conversations about war and conflict. The walk leader, Ross brubeck, has walked over 1,600 miles since May 15 and plans to reach the Twin Cities on Nov. 26. The group began with about 15 walkers, but only a core group of about three has completed the full journey. Brubeck said the group is carrying a message of peace that has evolved through conversations with people and communities along the route. Andrea Novotny, from the Great Turning Catholic Worker Farm on Madison's west side, joined the walk to support its message.
